Andrew Cooper
I study advanced semiconductor materials, particularly the materials used in advanced packaging and next-generation semiconductor integration. My research covers substrates, bonding materials, dielectric materials, interconnect materials, thermal solutions, and other technologies supporting increasingly complex chip architectures. I publish on this website because semiconductor performance increasingly depends on materials beyond the silicon die itself. Chiplets, high-density integration, advanced packaging, and AI accelerators all create new requirements for materials that can support electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance. My work follows material innovation across advanced packaging and high-performance computing. I examine how new packaging architectures influence substrate requirements, interconnect technologies, thermal management, and material consumption. I also study the relationship between materials suppliers and semiconductor technology transitions. New packaging approaches can create demand for specialized materials and open new markets for companies with differentiated material technologies. Through my articles, I aim to explain how advanced materials are becoming an increasingly important part of semiconductor technology and investment research.

Nvidia’s $1 Trillion Revenue Target by 2027: Behind the AI Factory Transformation
Nvidia’s trillion-dollar ambition is not a forecast of $1 trillion in revenue during the single year 2027. It is a statement about the cumulative business opportunity associated with Blackwell and Vera Rubin through that period—and about the scale of infrastructure customers may need as AI moves into continuous operation.
